What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine or telehealth simply refers to health-related services and information that are delivered via electronic and telecommunication technologies. You may not realize it, but many big healthcare systems utilize this technology. However, telemedicine’s impact remains small relative to its potential. Why? The main players such as Teladoc, MDLive, UAB eMedicine, only deliver simple urgent care style solutions. These services don’t let you utilize telemedicine to address your chronic health or primary care issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or Type II diabetes.  Furthermore, these companies lack the ability to offer lab tests, X-rays, or shots. Frustrating!

How does DoctorWellington do?

DoctorWellington is different. Dr. Wellington connects to physical locations with a state-of-the-art patient portal that allows our team of providers to address many of your chronic health issues via secure video visits or online chat visits. If during a telemedicine visit your provider suggests a test, like a flu test, you can go to one of our 16 clinics. When you arrive the clinic staff can access your visit information so that you can complete your visit with minimal hassle. Then, when the results come in, you and your provider can discuss the results via secure chat! No need to go back to the clinic.

Is telemedicine my only option with DoctorWellington?

For those wanting a more traditional in-clinic, face to face primary care or urgent care visit, of course, you can get that with your DoctorWellington subscription. Schedule a visit for any of our locations online, or just walk in anytime! You can mix and match to your liking. At DoctorWellngiton we don’t see telemedicine as a solution in itself. We feel it should be fully integrated into your overall care as a way to communicate more efficiently and receive care on your terms.  You should be able to move between telemedicine and in-clinic experiences seamlessly. And you should be able to address chronic and primary care issues via telemedicine With DoctorWellington you can!

Sincerely,

Doctor Wellington
